James Leg - Below The Belt out on September 4th via Alive Naturalsound Records.

John Wesley Myers, aka James Leg, is not exactly your average singer. As a matter of fact, he likes to describe himself as a "growler, a shouter, a composer, and a Fender Rhodes finger-fucker".

The son of a Texas preacher, raised in the South on gospel music, James Leg (Black Diamond Heavies, The Immortal Lee County Killers, Cut In The Hill Gang) has cut his sophomore solo album , the aptly titled "Below The Belt", at Masonic Sounds Studio in Dayton, Kentucky. The album was mixed by renowned producer/engineer Jim Diamond at Ghetto Recorders in Detroit.

The album opens with "Dirty South" a mean rocker driven by a menacing organ riff. "Casa de Fuego" is a great follow up with mariachi like horns and its tequila flavoured atmosphere."Up Above My Head" is a soulful gospel rendition of Sister Rosetta Tharpe's song.

And this track, more than any other, makes you wonder if Leg's music greatly reflects his torments being torn apart between his religious upbringing and the "devil's music" (i.e. rock'n'roll) he is now playing and preaching to the masses.

The devil's music is still ALIVE and James leg is its ultimate preacher. The one who's going to hit you where it hurts: "Below The Belt"

James Leg's Below The Belt will be released on limited vinyl, CD and digital formats on September 4th via Alive Naturalsound Records.
